Filmmaker Hansal Mehta: I’m afraid of repeating myself

National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta has worked in different genres, and he admits he is not afraid of failure but of repeating himself.

Mehta is known for films such as “Aligarh”, “Shahid”, “CityLights”, “Omerta” and the recent web series “Scam 1992”. His new film “Chhalaang”, a sports dramedy, g=had an OTT release on Diwali and has been appreciated by the audience and critics alike.

Asked if he is trying to shift gears from hardhitting films to softer fare as “Chhalaang”, Mehta told IANS: “I have always been shifting gears. So, my attempt is to keep trying different things. I am not afraid of failure. I am afraid of repeating myself.”

Mehta had recently praised actor Rajkummar Rao, with whom he has often collaborated, and said that the success of the actor makes him feel like a happy parent.

Nora Fatehi slays it with a French whiff in new post

Actress-dancer Nora Fatehi is quite the French diva in her latest post on social media.

In a picture she posted on Instagram, Nora poses in a velvet black dress with a thigh high slit, next to luxury car.

She wrote the caption in French: “Les rageux nous pistent… Longue est la liste.”

Coming up for Nora is the Ajay Devgn-starrer “Bhuj: The Pride Of India”. The film tells the tale of Indian Air Force pilot Vijay Karnik.

The period drama looks back at the story of 300 women of Madhapar village in Gujarat’s Kutch district, who played a pivotal role in helping India win the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Akshay Kumar to Taapsee: Proud of you, your journey

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is proud of actress Taapsee Pannu’s growth in career.

The compliment from the star came after Taapsee tweeted posters of “Baby” on Saturday and wrote: “Dear actors, Number of minutes don’t matter, the impact u leave with what u do in those minutes …… matters. 7 minutes that changed the direction of tide for me FOR GOOD. Yours truly, Naam Shabana (Winking face emoji).”

Akshay replied to her tweet saying: “Absolutely! Always make the most of what you have… proud of you and your onwards and upwards journey.”

Neeraj Pandey’s action thriller “Baby” released on this day in 2015. Starring Akshay with Rana Daggubati, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Taapsee, the film cast the actress as undercover agent Shabana Khan. She reprised her role in the 2017 film “Naam Shabana”, a prequel to “Baby”.

Taapsee’s upcoming projects are “Rashmi Rocket” and “Looop Lapeta”.

Varun Dhawan arrives at Sangeet venue, few Bollywood celebs spotted too

Bollywood heartthrob Varun Dhawan is all set to tie the knot this weekend with longtime girlfriend Natasha Dalal and wedding festivities have already begun in Alibaug. On Saturday, as per latest development, the actor arrived at the venue for his Sangeet ceremony.

Varun wore a white T-shirt and blue jeans along with a mask as he stepped out of the car and made his way into the venue, briefly stopping to pose for the press cameras. His parents David and Karuna Dhawan, and brother Rohit Dhawan with wife and daughter, were snapped by paparazzi in Alibaug, kicking off wedding festivities.

Apart from Varun and Natasha and their family members, filmmaker Shashank Khaitan, filmmaker Kunal Kohli with family, Varun’s niece Anjini Dhawan, and fashion designer Manish Malhotra have also arrived at the venue. Many other celebrities are expected to be part of the wedding festivities during the weekend.

The Dhawans have blocked an entire resort facing the beach in Alibaug and are planning a grand yet restricted wedding ceremony. The wedding functions will extend over three days, on January 22, 23 and 24, with guests following the bio bubble protocol. The guests list includes immediate family members of the couple along with close friends and colleagues.

The resort chosen as the wedding venue is called The Mansion House, a popular spot for destination weddings in Alibaug.

Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal, childhood sweethearts, had reportedly planned to het married last year but were forced to postpone their wedding because of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

As per reports, household and home staff’s phones will be sealed while on premises. It’s a strict order from the bride-to-be Natasha since she doesn’t want their pictures to be leaked on social media.

There is a strict No Phone Policy in place for all the wedding functions.
The wedding will take place at The Mansion House on January 24 followed by a reception on January 26.
