Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain David Warner is one of the players who traded one bio-bubble for another when he came to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Warner as part of the Australian team that toured England for three ODIs and three T20Is between September 4 and 16.
“Bubble life is very challenging,” Warner said at his pre-IPL press conference. “It is the hardest thing not to have family with us due to restrictions. But these are unprecedented times due to Covid-19. The BCCI and the organisers have done a fantastic job by putting this up.
“Obviously the next few months will be challenging. In Australia, we can go out, play golf and drive a car. Hopefully, we can do some recreational stuff [here too]. But first and foremost is that the tournament gets going. It makes a difference.”
SRH are expected to bank on Warner and Jonny Bairstow at the top of the order once again to provide the runs. “It’s good to play alongside him,” said Warner.
“We know each other’s game well. We have a good understanding like I have with Finchy [Aaron Finch] for Australia. Looking forward to good opening partnerships with him.”
SRH start their campaign this season against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday at the Dubai International Stadium.
BBL 10: Rashid Khan extends stay with Adelaide Strikers
Star Afghanistan all-rounder Rashid Khan will again turn up for Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).
“I’m so happy that I am able to play for the Strikers again in a big tenth season of the Big Bash, and I have loved this competition from the very beginning,” Rashid said from Dubai where he is playing for the SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“The Strikers have been like a family to me since I joined them, and I am so thankful to the fans who have been supporting me and made me feel like Adelaide is my home,” he added.
Rashid is the third-highest wicket-taker for the Strikers with 56 from just 40 matches, and the best economy of those who have bowled more than 10 innings with 6.36. He first joined the Strikers as a teenager in 2017 and was part of the squad that won its maiden Championship, despite his absence in the final due to commitments with his national team.
Head coach Jason Gillespie is looking forward to welcoming Rashid back to South Australia for a fourth season.
“Rashid has been such a quality player and person for the city of Adelaide and the Strikers from the moment he arrived,” Gillespie said.
“We’re thrilled his world-class bowling and exciting batting will continue to entertain our loyal fans, and we want to again be challenging for a second title when the tournament begins,” he added.
Novak Djokovic not to play at Paris Masters
World no.1 Novak Djokovic said that he will not defend his Paris Masters title this season as he doesn’t stand to lose any points due to the ATP Tour’s revised ranking system.
“I won’t play in Paris as I can’t add to my points tally but I will go to Vienna and London,” Djokovic told Belgrade daily Sportski Zurnal.
Djokovic won his 36th Paris Masters last season, thus surpassing Rafael Nadal as the most successful men’s singles player in the tournament. He said that he is looking to play towards the end of the year in order to put a gap between him and second-placed Rafael Nadal.
“I can win up to 500 points in Vienna as I didn’t play there last year and there are also a lot of points available in London. Its not my priority. My immediate task is to collect as many points as I can in a bid to put as much distance between myself and the chasing pack ahead of next season.”
“I want to go down in history as the world number one with the most weeks at the top of the ATP Tour and I will do all I can to make it happen. Whether Nadal plays in Paris or not changes nothing because it’s all in my hands.”

In yet another blow for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has been ruled out of the remaining matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 because of a groin injury.
CSK chief executive officer Kasi Viswanathan has informed that Bravo has suffered a Grade 1 tear to his right groin and would be leaving the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the West Indies on Thursday.
“He is out of the IPL. He has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 tear in the right groin,” Viswanathan to ESPNcricinfo. The all-rounder will require at least 2-3 weeks to recover, added Viswanathan.

Bravo did not feature in CSK’s next game against Rajasthan Royals which the three-time IPL champions lost by seven wickets. He featured for CSK in just six matches this season, scoring seven runs and picking up six wickets.
They have just six points from 10 games and are currently placed at the bottom of the table. They will next take on Mumbai Indians on Friday in Sharjah.
