Actress Digangana Suryavanshi: Bigg Boss difficult to watch after living in the house

Actress and Bigg Boss 9 contestant Digangana Suryavanshi says watching the popular reality television show can be difficult once you are out of the house. She adds that she is not closely following the ongoing season 14 of Bigg Boss but she is fond of contestants who hail from the television industry.

“I have lived in that house and, honestly, I feel that once you come out after living in that house it becomes very difficult to watch that show. I often watch it on Saturdays and Sundays thanks to (show host) Salman (Khan) sir. I enjoy watching him on television. I have been following bits and pieces of the show. One interesting thing about ‘Bigg Boss’ is that whether you follow it or not, it is widely discussed on social media, so you kind of get to know what’s happening,” said Digangana.

TV star Digangana takes a diplomatic line when you ask her to name her favourite contestant in the current season. “There are so many known faces from the television industry in the current season of the show. I am not really following the show but I am fond of almost everyone in the house, especially contestants from the television industry,” she said.

Talking about her upcoming projects, she said: “I am very excited for my upcoming projects. Right now, I am doing a Hindi film and a couple of other things. We will soon make formal announcements about those projects. Due to lockdown, our life has become a bit slow, but then I look forward to being on sets very soon.”

Digangana will next be seen on screen in the Telugu sports action film “Seetimaarr” along with Tottempudi Gopichand and Tamannaah Bhatia.

Neetu Kapoor remembers Rishi Kapoor on wedding anniversary

Veteran actress Neetu Kapoor shared a social media post in the memory of her late husband Rishi Kapoor on their 41st wedding anniversary on Friday.

Neetu shared a video on Instagram which comprises a collage of scenes from different films featuring the two of them in their younger days as well as recent years.

Captioning the video, Neetu wrote: “Justtt” along with a heartbroken emoji. “Would have been our 41 years today,” she added. 

Bollywood stars Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor had tied the knot on January 22, 1980. The coupe are parents to Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and jewellery designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. 

Rishi Kapoor breathed his last in Mumbai on April 30 last year after a two-year battle with leukemia. Wife Neetu often takes to social media to express her pain of missing him.

Neetu will next be seen in Raj Mehta’s comedy Jug Jugg Jeeyo. She stars alongside Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani and Prajakta Koli.

Actor Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal head to Alibag for wedding

Bollywood star Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal reportedly left for Alibag along with their families on Friday morning, for their wedding. While the ceremony in on January 24, rituals begin from Friday.

Social media pictures and videos that surfaced on Friday show Varun’s parents David and Karuna Dhawan leaving in one car while his brother Rohit Dhawan along with wife Janvi Dhawan and their daughter leaves in another.

Natasha Dalal was also spotted leaving her residence along with her parents.

Varun and Natasha are reportedly to tie the knot at The Mansion House Resort in Alibag, that is 20 minutes away from Mumbai via speedboat.

Earlier source close to Varun told IANS: “Varun and Natasha will be leaving for Alibag on January 22. They will tie the knot on January 24 and it will be a close-knit family affair, keeping the global pandemic in mind, because there are elder family members in both the families. It will be around 40 people from both the families gather for the occasion.”

On the guest list the source had added that “no Bollywood celebrity will be attending the ceremony now, because then the guest list would cross 500, which is not practically possible, keeping Covid-19 in mind”.

Singer Narendra Chanchal passes away at 80

Singer Narendra Chanchal, who redefined popular devotional singing in India, is no more. According to reports, Narendra Chanchal died on Friday in the city. He was 80.

Celebrities like Anup Jalota, Daler Mehndi and Madhur Bhandarkar have paid tributes to the late singer.

Chanchal shot to fame with his ‘Jagran’ hits in the seventies and the eighties, particularly songs dedicated to Sherawali Mata. His ode to Sherawali Mata “Chalo bulava aaya hai” continues to be popular till date. Chanchal is best known for his live performances.

The singer also made a mark in Bollywood. He is known for rendering the title song of the 1974 Amitabh Bachchan film “Benaam”, composed by RD Burman. He also famously sang “Beshak mandir masjid todo” in Raj Kapoor’s 1973 superhit “Bobby”, starring Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia.

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted: “Saddened to hear demise of Singer #NarendraChanchal ji. He will be remembered for his bhajans and some remarkable songs in Hindi films, My heartfelt condolences to his admirers and family. Om Shanti.”

Singer Daler Mehndi also felt “deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family and legions of fans”.

Honouring the singer, actor Ranvir Shorey said: “Saddened at the demise of vocalist Sh. Narendra Chanchal, singer of many iconic bhajans & Hindi film songs in history. His unique voice had the ability to pierce straight to a listener’s heart, making every listening experience an emotional & spiritual one. #RIP #respect.”
