Two distinct explosions occurred at fireworks factories in Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of nine lives, the police said.
Authorities deployed police and fire department personnel to quell the blaze.
A senior police official told, “Seven charred bodies were recovered from the sudden blast at the fireworks unit in Sivakasi and their identities are yet to be established.”
According to him, the police suspect they might be workers.
Seven individuals lost their lives in the fireworks factory in Sivakasi, while tow men met demise in a separate fire incident at the fireworks facility in Kammapatti village.
