Mumbai Press carried a story  ‘A 12 story building on Waqf Land‘ in the jurisdiction of E Ward Municipal office Nagpada in south Mumbai. at the behest of E ward with the builder MEHBOOB SORTIA.
CS.1179 Waqf Board Land, Hujaria Street, Nagpada, Mumbai

Mumbai Press has further worked on the story and dug out startling details about this whole nexus.
We have learnt that the stay which builder got on the demolition of the building is interestingly facilitated by BMC officers. Builder submits the proposal to BMC’s Building proposal department and pays the fees. They also apply for power connection and get the receipt. Now, they built-up their case on the basis of this receipt and asked for a stay till the matter is into the hearing.
build
This is a modus-operandi generally adopted by the builders who make unauthorized buildings. In this case, it was no different and this was very much in tune with the E Ward officers. Actually, all these are a part of the planning of “How to deal with litigation and govt regulations if in case the matter gets blown-up”. They also do not put up a strong prosecution on the builder and do not apprise the court of the status of the proposal submitted.
Actually, the proposal kept lying in the department citing one or other reason and builder goes ahead with construction. When the construction has completed the racket of builder-BMC officers wait for reactions and if in case there is an objection BMC officer issue a demolition notice and then builder goes to the court.
Now, the matter gets prolonged by both parties deliberately to a stage where builder gets tenants living in the building and then citing sufferings of the tenants they get to stay on demolition.
Mumbai press spoke to E ward’s AMC Mr Gaikward who expressed his inability citing court stay and assured us of action as and when stay gets lifted. That means the building will stay around on the waqf land…!!!!!
BMC’s officers know everything from the very beginning they also know that how to cooperate with the builder and get rewarded.
The builder in this case of 12 stories unauthorized building named Mehboob Sortia is known in the area for land-grabbing and unauthorized constructions and allegedly enjoys support from local MLA and Corporator.
